The Model 3646 Chassis Dynamometer is designed for use in a Sealed Housing for Evaporative Determination (SHED). The special requirements of this form of emission testing require that the dynamometer not contribute measurable hydrocarbon or alcohol constituents to the background level in the SHED. Therefore all components in the SHED environment must be specially treated so as to not emit or contribute to the measurement process. Special coatings of stainless steel or galvanizing are used on all surfaces. The motor is mounted in a separate pit to prevent cooling air of motor components from contributing hydrocarbon emissions. |
