The Operator interface provides the
operator with complete control of dynamometer operation using
various displays. The structure of the displays is similar to
most Windows applications by using a Title Bar, a Menu Bar, a
Button Bar, a Status Panel, a Control Panel, and the Bottom
Panel which contains the message panel and other miscellaneous
functions. From the Menu Bar, operators can access files,
program settings, limit setpoints, communications, spreadsheets,
procedures, and much more. The Button Bar calls up various
screen panels that allow the operator to customize virtually all
of the available settings on the dynamometer. This allows
operators to perform such tasks as:
- Calibrating
the machine
- Simulating
road driving
- Determining
dyno losses
- Running
the dyno at constant speed
- Running
the dyno at constant force
- Performing
coastdowns
With its many menu options and buttons, the operator interface
combines the ultimate in customization with the ease-of-use
customers have come to expect.
Dyno Pendant
The Drivers Pendant is designed to allow the Dyno to be
controlled from a remote location. It accomplishes this by
communicating with the Dyno Controller via an RS-422 channel.
The pendant uses a custom keypad designed specifically for
operating the Burke Porter Machinery Company Dyno. The operator
uses this keypad to issue commands to the Dyno and to edit
displayed operating parameters. An easy-to-use display shows the
Dyno operating status at all times. |
