Rear Axle Aligner – The Latest Innovation at
Burke E. Porter Machinery
For more than 30 years, Burke E. Porter has
played an integral role in aligning vehicles on
the final production assembly lines for many of
the major OEM’s; originally with our contact
aligners and then over the last 15 years with
our industry leading Non-Contact Laser based
Aligners. With the increasing number of
vehicles being designed with independent rear
axles, BEP recognized the growing needs of
today’s Tier 1 suppliers and has engineered and
manufactured a specialized Rear Axle Assembly
Module Non-Contact Alignment Machine designed to
perform production line measuring, automatic toe
and camber setting, and verification of axle
alignment parameters using a laser-based,
computerized measurement system.
This machine is capable of controlling and
simulating both vehicle ride height and loading
conditions, so that it can produce alignment
results that match those measured on the
vehicles in final production. The suspension
system is adjusted while under simulated load
and thus bushings and adjustment mechanisms are
torqued under final vehicle conditions,
producing settings that match a vehicle set at
the End of Final Production Line.
An open architecture allows for ease of use and
simple maintenance access. Unlike contact style
machines, the high precision point lasers
provide very low maintenance and very long life
with no mechanical components to clean.
