The Burke Porter MIM (Motor In Middle) Style Chassis Dynamometer (Dyno) is a heavy duty road simulation system designed for emission testing, including certification of vehicles. Using a motor-in-the-middle design, the system offers very fast inertia response times of under 100 milliseconds, accurate control and the excellent repeatability necessary to reproduce reliable test data.

The Model 4100 is comprised of two 48-inch diameter chrome-plated steel rollers driven by an AC electric motor/absorber coupled to a digital AC vector drive to provide road load simulation. A unique trunnion bearing system allows for pure measurement of the torque delivered to the vehicle drive train without the need to compensate for bearing losses or the need to employ complicated, actively powered bearing systems.

The Burke Porter MIM-type Dynamometer Test Systems bring true flexibility to the world of laboratory testing. Due to its modular design, various MIM (motor-in-the-middle) dyno systems can be designed to suit your needs. At the center of this flexible, modular design is the Model 4100 2WD MIM dynamometer. It can be used as a fixed or moveable dyno, or—when combined with a second dyno—as part of a Model 4500 4WD MIM test system.

Model 5325 Moveable MIM Dyno

The Model 5325 Moveable MIM is, quite simply, a Model 4100 MIM Dyno mounted to a heavy-duty welded sub-frame on linear bearings. A continuous loop, multi-section deck mechanism attached to the moveable dyno chassis allows the dyno to be moved while providing a rugged platform on which to drive the test vehicle.



Model 4442 Mileage Accumulator Dyno

The Model 4442 Mileage Accumulator is a medium duty machine used to test two-wheel-drive vehicles in the LDV/MDV weight classes. The MIM Chassis Dynamometer features an AC Flux Vector motor/absorber mounted between two dynamometer rolls.
